Driving in Sweden
How to calculate petrol costs in Sweden
Enter the driving distance in kilometers, your car’s consumption in liters per Swedish mil or per 100 kilometers and the fuel price in Swedish kronor per liter. The calculator shows fuel needed, the total trip cost and an equal share for each person.
For example, a 300-km drive at 7 L/100 km uses 21 liters. At an illustrative price of 18 SEK/liter, fuel costs 378 SEK. A round trip is 756 SEK. Shared by three people, that is 252 SEK each. This example price is not a live station quote.
Swedish mil and kilometers
One Swedish mil equals 10 kilometers. A 30-mil journey is 300 km. If your vehicle uses 0.7 liters per mil, choose L/mil and enter 0.7, or choose L/100 km and enter 7. A Swedish mil is different from an English mile.
Petrol or diesel?
Select the fuel your vehicle uses. The estimated petrol price refers to Euro-super 95; the diesel price refers to automotive gas oil. Enter the vehicle’s own consumption rather than assuming the same fuel economy for both fuels.
Planning a drive across Sweden
Use the road distance from a map service. Prices can vary between stations and regions, and motorway stations may differ from the national reference. Add tolls, parking and other trip expenses separately.
